One Crazy Day

I knew going into Saturday that it would be crazy. It proved to be true and then some. We had Sam's birthday party at 11:00 at Incredible Pizza. It turned out to be a small group, but everyone had a good time eating pizza & cake, playing games and riding go-carts.
We rushed back to our house and stayed just long enough for Clara to eat. Then we were off to Granbury for our cousin Tyler's birthday party at 4:00. It was at a gymnastics place and the kids could run around, jump on trampolines, jump in the foam pit, etc. Everyone had a good time, except Ollie. See below...

Sam got a lot of Toy Story stuff which is what he wanted. He got a 2-wheeled Toy Story scooter from Mom & Dad. He also finally got the Toy Story DVDs that we've been waiting for them to be re-released. He got some fun Toy Story toys, a few good books and some other fun toys. Thanks everyone for making his birthday great!!

The trampolines at the gymnastics place were set into the floor, so you can just walk right onto them. Ollie made a beeline for one that our niece was jumping on and before anyone could get to him, he got bounced pretty hard. He ended up with a fractured tibia. He's in a temporary long leg splint and not allowed to walk on it. We are supposed to see an orthopedic specialist on Monday. He'll probably get a real cast and I doubt if he'll be released to walk on it. We'll see. He has been such a trooper throughout this whole thing so far.

Enjoying Sam's birthday loot

Halfy Birthday Clara!!

Clara turned 6 months on Friday. She is growin, movin' and groovin'. She weighed 16 lb 1 oz (50%) and was 26" long (75%). She is still a very happy and content baby. Not really sleeping through the night anymore. Not sure what happened there, but we're working on it. She started rice cereal about a week ago and loved it. She has now moved on the squash. Yum!!
She is VERY active. She is trying to crawl!!! She can sit up unsupported very briefly, but is more interested in flinging herself forward and trying to "crawl."

Happy Birthday Sam!!

Five years ago our lives changed forever. This (very) little boy came into our lives in a whirlwind and it hasn't slowed down since.
He is kind to his friends, brother & sister. He loves to read books and play outside. And he is pretty witty and smart in my unbiased opinion. Happy birthday Sambo!!

March Update

Okay, so blogger is driving me nuts with its formatting. I don't know what they changed, but I don't like it. Everything is out of order and I don't have time to mess with it any longer :)

She has found her toes, and now she likes to suck on them

She LOVES bathtime, squealing as soon as we walk into the bathroom

Helping Daddy put together his new trike

She is now big enough to play in the exersaucer and loves it.
Things are busy as usual around the Norris household. We have really been enjoying this spring weather that has finally arrived. Tony and the boys have been hanging outside in the evenings after we get home while I try to do a few things and get dinner going. Its the first thing Ollie asks when he gets home from school "outside play?"

Ollie is really talking up a storm now. I think he's understandable to most people now if they take the time to listen. Not that he's been a fussy kiddo, but I know he's much happier now that he can express his thoughts, wants and needs. He is sort of in pre-potty training mode. Even though it would be nice to only have one in diapers right now, I am not one to rush potty training. It seems like such a big waste of energy if you try before they are ready. He sits on the potty at school a lot, but rarely goes. He asks to sit on the potty pretty frequently when he needs to poop, but doesn't really ever pee in the potty. Seems a little backwards, but whatever. I also just ordered his "big boy bed." Don't think we'll set it up just yet, but it was on sale with free shipping, so I couldn't pass it up. He has not climbed out of his crib yet, but totally could if he tried. He's really growing up (sniffle, sniffle).

Sam is a lot of fun right now. He is really enjoying his pre-K curriculum at school and has announced the math is his favorite, much to Tony's delight. He has weekly homework assignments to work on and last week we were supposed to figure out what 5 + 5 is. So was planning on having him draw 5 of something and then another 5 and count them up. When I told him what the assignment said, he just said "its 10." Apparently, he had just been watching a show that morning and they had talked about that. He is starting to read words and loves to write out stuff with spelling help from mom and dad. He and Ollie are really playing well together. Sam had a family picnic and Easter egg hunt for his class last week. He wanted me to read the announcement to him. It said "any family or friends are welcome." Sam said, "ooh, Ollie can come, he's my friend." I was very touched.

Crazy girl Clara is doing great too. She is 5 months old now, but she thinks she is 8 months old. She is almost trying to crawl and gets very frustrated that she cannot. She definitely gets around through some kind of combination of rolling and scooting on her face. She is a very happy baby and squeals with delight without any provocation. With any little noise or squeal she makes Ollie says "Clara (sounds like Kayla) funny." He thinks she is hilarious. I can't believe I almost forgot, she has been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now!!! Our next big milestone will be starting solid foods at 6 months.

Fabulous February

Well, we've had an eventful February around here...
Clara turned 4 months on Feb 23rd. She weighed 14 lb 2 oz (50%) and was 25 1/4 " long (75%). She is sooo active. The week before her 4 month birthday, she started rolling over. She rolled from belly to back one day (one time) and the next day she rolled from back to belly and has not stopped since. She has still only rolled belly to back that one time though. At first she would roll onto her belly and cry until you rolled her back, then she would immediately roll to her belly again and cry. Now she is content to hang out on her belly and play for awhile. Last weekend she started blowing raspberries. She loves it and laughs when we do it back to her. She is very vocal and very active, much more so than I remember with either of the boys. But, she is still very happy most of the time and such a joy!

She is now able to sit in the bumbo. She seems to like being able to see what's going on a little better.
We also had a record snowfall here in Fort Worth just before Valentine's Day. I think we got something like 10 inches. We had a lot of tree limbs down in the neighborhood and our next door neighbors carport caved in on top of their cars. Aside from that it was really pretty and fun to play in. This was the 2nd significant accumulation we had this season and I think it has snowed 4 times. If I had known, we would have invested in some better snow gear.

Happy 3 months, Clara!

Clara turned 3 months on Saturday. She is doing awesome!! She is a happy baby and mostly only cries when hungry or tired. In that respect she has changed so much in just a few weeks. She has been in daycare for almost 2 weeks and has made the transition beautifully. She is smiling, cooing and sort of squealing. She is very active - she is trying so hard to roll from her back to her belly, but hasn't quite made it yet. She also loves "standing" and putting some weight through her legs. She is a good sleeper, of course she wakes for a mid-night snack but goes right back to sleep with no trouble. When I feel like she is ready for "sleep training" I think she will do well.
The transition back to work hasn't been so bad. Its hectic in the mornings and evenings as I am sure you can imagine.
